Saint's Alp Teahouse

A Taiwanese tea house of long standing on a Prince Edward corner, fitted out in pale wood with floor-to-ceiling glass, outdoor seats and a shelf of picture books beside the high chairs. Bubble tea is what it is remembered for, the jasmine milk tea and chewy pearls still made the old way, and thick-cut toast, coconut or peanut, toasted to order, is its long-standing partner. Rice and noodle plates run to braised minced pork over rice, pork jowl with a soy-stewed egg, beef noodle soup and soft-bone pork rice noodles, with popcorn chicken and salt-and-pepper squid as snacks. Afternoon sets are inexpensive.
